By changing the blend of Yulex material used for spring suits, we have improved elasticity, making it lighter and more comfortable.
Patagonia's Yulex wetsuits, which do not use neoprene, use 85% natural rubber/15% synthetic rubber (polymer content).
By replacing petroleum-based materials with plant-based materials, we offer the same functionality as traditional stretchy neoprene while reducing carbon dioxide emissions during manufacturing by up to 80%.
Natural rubber extracted from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified raw materials by the Rainforest Alliance is blended with chlorine-free synthetic rubber to improve resistance to ozone and UV rays, meeting Patagonia's strict standards for durability, strength, and stretch.
The redesigned R1 Light Yulex Long Jane uses 2mm thick material with a 100% recycled polyester lining that is stretchy and quick-drying, providing comfort, flexibility, and sun protection while minimizing weight. The outer surface is 88% recycled polyester/12% polyurethane.
The outer surface and lining use solution-dyed fabric, which uses 86% less water than conventional dyeing processes, and are laminated with water-based adhesive AquaA, which eliminates harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Princess seams and a racerback design ensure a secure fit without restricting movement, and all seams are finished with flatlock stitching for comfort against the skin.
